Prednisone made me do it

Innocent
after years of cold, lonely nights
her time had come
in a moment of sheer passion
“yes,” was all it took
soon she began to see
see what she had been missing
what so many others had known
she was just discovering
hungering for more
she slipped it between her lips
it was warm and smooth on her tongue
she lost her breath
it was just like she imagined
so good, so smooth
she felt it flow onto her tongue

Lovely Libation
Janny Don illustrated Captain Morgan Spiced Rum bottles
I think that should be important to me
He created the object of my lust, essentially
To him, I owe my happiness, at least some of it
The rest I owe to some Jamaican
For he created the masterpiece that is spiced rum
Jesus was a carpenter

BATMAN
He watches me from the shelf
He’s better, now that I’m not drunk
His blue eyes are motionless
He stands an unwelcome guard over me

He is just what I used to look for in a man
Silent, angry, strong… plastic
His chiseled jaw and sharp cheeks threaten me
He is but a floating head, a hollow vessel

He knows my secrets, my truths
He has seen me at my best
and my worst but he loves me
And he is there in the morning to sit and stare at me again

Interestingly, I have a Robin action figure that stands guard over me in my room...
